What a way to close out the school year at Sienna Crossing! 🐊
Today was filled with smiles, celebration, and special memories—from cheering on our 5th graders during their parade (led in style by my partner AP on her scooter! 🛴), to honoring our incredible retirees for their years of dedication and impact on students’ lives. We wrapped it all up with popsicles, laughter, hugs, and plenty of happy tears.
This school year was especially meaningful for me, as it marked the end of my first year as an assistant principal. I have learned so much from our students, staff, families, and leadership team, and I am incredibly grateful to be part of a school community that cares so deeply about kids and each other.
A school year is made up of thousands of little moments, and today was a reminder of just how special this community truly is. Thankful for everyone who helps us continue Leveling Up Our Learning every single day.
Wishing everyone a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer! ☀️📚
Field Day may have moved indoors because of the weather, but our SCE Navigators still had an amazing time! What could have been a disappointing day quickly turned into a fun-filled experience thanks to our incredible LAMPS team, who pivoted seamlessly and made the day memorable for our students. So proud of the creativity, flexibility, and positive energy that made today a success!
Tonight, we celebrated excellence, leadership, character, service, and scholarship at our National Elementary Honor Society Induction Ceremony.
So proud of our students for their hard work and dedication both inside and outside the classroom. Watching these young leaders take this next step was truly special. Congratulations to all of our inductees and their families—we cannot wait to see the incredible things you accomplish!
Tonight, our 4th graders performed Seussical Kids—and they rocked their final performance! 🎭✨
These students did far more than perform. They helped bring the entire production to life—from the artwork, backdrops, props, stage details, sound and light production. Their dedication, creativity, teamwork, and commitment have been incredible to watch throughout this process.
I am so proud of the way they supported one another, stepped up to challenges, and worked together to create something special for their families and school community.
Hard work truly pays off, and tonight is a celebration of all they accomplished together. 💙
Kindergarten is Leveling Up all the way to the last day of school! 🎉
Our ABC Countdown to summer is officially underway, and today was one of our favorites—Chalk Day!
Sidewalks turned into canvases as our youngest Navigators filled them with creativity, color, and joy. From drawings to messages to each other, it was a great reminder that learning (and celebrating!) can happen anywhere.
Moments like these matter because they build community, spark imagination, and create lasting memories for our students.
We’re excited to keep the countdown going!
Grateful is an understatement. 💙
As Assistant Principal Week comes to a close, I’ve been incredibly humbled by the kindness shown through cards, messages, student notes, and thoughtful gestures from our staff.
But what this week truly reinforced for me is that leadership is never a solo act.
I have the privilege of serving alongside an exceptional team at Sienna Crossing Elementary—educators and staff who show up every day for students with patience, consistency, and heart. The work we do for kids only happens because of the collective commitment of those around us.
To my team: thank you for all that you do to support our students and each other. You are the reason our campus continues “Leveling Up Our Learning.”

We had a fantastic time at our Spring Carnival, Gator Palooza! 🎡🐊
From the carnival games and activities to the exciting auction, the entire evening was filled with laughter, fun, and school spirit. It was wonderful to see so many of our students, families, and staff members together enjoying such a special event. Moments like these truly highlight the strength of our school community.
A special thank you to our amazing PTO and the many dedicated volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to make this event possible. Your time, energy, and commitment to our school make experiences like this possible for our students and families.
We are so grateful for our incredible Gator community!
It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here — and life has been full in the best way.
I’m officially serving as an Assistant Principal, and this season has stretched me, challenged me, and sharpened my leadership in ways I didn’t expect.
I care deeply about building systems that support teachers, creating strong campus culture, and making sure every student feels known.
Recently, our students participated in the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge — our top fundraisers earned the opportunity to slime me as the sliming was broadcasted live on Gator News. It was messy, loud, and absolutely worth it. Moments like that remind me that leadership is about presence, joy, and modeling what it means to show up for your school community.
Leadership isn’t about the title — it’s about service.
Excited to reconnect here and share more about what I’m learning along the way.

I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined the Navigator family as the new Assistant Principal at Sienna Crossing Elementary! With 20 years in education and a passion for building strong relationships, I’m ready to support our students, staff, and families.
A heartfelt thank you to all the mentors, colleagues, leaders, friends, and family who have supported me throughout my career journey—your guidance and encouragement mean the world to me. Looking forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Day 4 of National School Counseling Week. I’m a School Counselor because I believe in the power of education, see the potential in every student, and value social-emotional learning. @hornelem@vflores2323@Inspire2Empowr@ASCAtweets@HISD_ACC
