Since students ate breakfast in our classrooms, I had a morning coffee/breakfast reading time in my classroom. This was a time to read books, Scholastic News, various magazines (Cricket, Highlights, SI Kids, American Girl, etc.), and then talk about their discoveries.

A2 The teacher and I who had a room also posted printed replicas of book covers on our door and a bulletin board near to our room in the hall of the books we were reading/had read. We posted picture books, graphic novels, articles, podcasts for kids passing by.

A8 What we assess tends to be what we teach. If we assess speed, then we’re likely to create speed-raising interventions. By contrast, if we assess volume, we are also likely to highlight interventions designed to increase volume. BIG WIN! #G2Great
I agree. Sometimes this joy of reading is real passion & sometimes it is a deep need to discover information. I spent more time reading to learn, even as a child. This joy looks and feels differently for all. #G2great
