THE AGONY OF A CHRISTIAN IN NIGERIA

My dear brothers and sisters around the world, I speak to you today as Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo with a heart that is broken beyond words.

This is the agony of a Christian in Nigeria.

When he crept back into his house after the gunfire, hoping against hope that his family had survived, he found something no husband, father, or human being should ever have to witness.

His entire family was dead.

The home where there once were voices, laughter, prayers, and love had become a place of mourning. The people he loved were gone. And he was left standing in the silence, asking God, “Lord, why?”

How do you explain this pain to the world?

How do you tell a father that the children he kissed before sleeping will never wake up again? How do you tell a mother that her family has been taken from her? How do you comfort someone whose home has become a graveyard?

Yet, while our brothers and sisters are crying, the world remains quiet.

The Bible says, “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it.” — 1 Corinthians 12:26

So I ask the world today: Can you hear the cries of suffering Christians in Nigeria?

Please do not look away because this tragedy did not happen in your country. These are human beings. These are families. These are our brothers and sisters.

The Word of God says, “Remember those in prison as if you were together with them, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” — Hebrews 13:3

Today, I am asking you to remember them.

Remember the widows.

Remember the orphans.

Remember the fathers who buried their children.

Remember the mothers who lost their entire families.

Remember the survivors who must now live with memories that no human heart should have to carry.

And above all, pray.

Pray that God will comfort those who have lost everything. Pray that He will protect the innocent. Pray that peace will return to Nigeria. Pray that the hearts of those who carry out violence will be transformed.

The Bible says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

Lord, draw near to every broken family tonight.

Where there are tears, bring comfort.

Where there is fear, bring courage.

Where there is grief, bring Your presence.

Where there is darkness, let Your light shine.

And where the world has remained silent, Lord, awaken our hearts to care.

I am Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, and I will continue to speak for those whose voices have been silenced by violence.

Please don't look away. Please don't remain silent. Please remember Nigeria in your prayers.

May God have mercy on Nigeria.

May God comfort the brokenhearted.

May God protect His people.

And may the day come when no family will have to wake up to the sound of gunfire, and no Christian will have to return home to find everyone they love gone.

But let me tell you what actually whips up fears of Islam.

Well, look at Saudi Arabia the birthplace of Islam and custodian of its holy sites.
People are executed for blasphemy and apostasy.

Calling Saudi Arabia the extreme fringe of Islam is like calling the Vatican the extreme fringe of Catholicism. Sorry, it just doesn't work.

Then we're told violent Muslims have misunderstood Islam.

Saudi Arabia has misunderstood. Iran has misunderstood. Yemen has misunderstood.
Has there ever been a more spectacularly misunderstood religion than Islam?

I'm constantly told that I need to respect Islam. But I'm under no greater obligation to respect Islam than any other belief.

I am under no obligation to make compromises with an ideology I simply don't see as peaceful.

Why don't I see it as peaceful? Because of the evidence.

If I look around the world and see the countries where Islam calls the shots, all I see is brutality and violence imposed by the state.
