@theonetonhammer@OrevaZSN Yeah , we shouldn't do anything that could be called socialism. This is the only metric that matters. Just to be safe, let's make workdays longer. /s
@IndianaModerate@stubzmoji@JohnRad15 For the sake of the debate, let's grant that all the best economies of the past and present are capitalist. What was your conclusion from that? It's not connected in any way to any economies being voluntary.
@SeloSlav We see the result of similar situations in many industries, like the movies (everyone uses visual effects, but obscures the extent to the public) and commercial art (everyone copies from references, but doesn't advertise it to the public).
@phlegmatitron@JohnRad15 In the actual accounts of former American slaves, they didn't just celebrate their legal freedom, but also noted how the system was still rigged against them. I don't think they would want us to use "But it's not slavery, so it's okay" as a defense for the system of exploitation.
@IndianaModerate@stubzmoji@JohnRad15 In most comments in this thread, you suggest that capitalism is the best possible system (and therefore can't be changed for the better) because there's no system better than it. We can't say that something is the best possible based just on things that exist or existed.
@IndianaModerate@stubzmoji@JohnRad15 Your reasoning doesn't allow for other kinds of economies than past and present. It also doesn't distinguish between flavors of the present economy. If we approached progress like this, it would just stop: is there a better past or present mode of transportation than a horse?
