@ShepherdessAnne@ToonHive Well, the "AI" label started being thrown around a lot with the rise of LLMs and image generators, so that's what it functionally means, there's no reason to specify, since nobody else calls anything else "AI" (generally speaking).
@AltZizzle@NatSciChannel So for the most part, zoo animals seem to be for human entertainment, everywhere, with varying degrees of how bad the animal enclosures, food and treatment is. And they are also product to be traded between zoos, and if they have too much of certain animals, they kill them.
@AltZizzle@NatSciChannel I am not convinced that amounts to anything. Species become endangered and eventually extinct because we destroy and fragment their environments, breeding them with nowhere to return makes no sense, and a lot of zoo animals cannot live in the wild, like humans born in a city cant
@ErbunnNinja@SwipeWright I'm not talking about some relativistic distinction, but an objective distinction that is shared between the religions and the main subject in this thread, and that is the baselessness of both. Made up things (words without referent, only reification) held up as true = crazy.
@ErbunnNinja@SwipeWright Well you see, that's why it's confusing. Religion IS weird crazy shit, and yet unifies people (presumably, and in not a very good way, reinforces us vs them tribalistic mentality) , so something being weird crazy shit doesn't necessarily tell me if it's unifying or fracturing.
@SwipeWright It seems to me, people mean that avoiding any and all possible conflict, even conflict of ideas = decent human being.
I think that should be balanced by also being 'ruthlessly' grounded in reality. The decent thing to do is to change people so they become grounded too.
@hugh545@HJoyceGender I think I've also seen that quote attributed to Carl Sagan. He was great at communicating scientific thinking and ideas for the masses.
@brian_t_muldoon@wesyang That makes no sense, what you suggest is impossible to tell from a photo (if someone is happy or not, let alone deduce from a photo that it's due to some change in their life).
@SwipeWright Based on the explanations I read recently on the origin of "left" vs "right", this makes sense. Both 'positions' have no content intrinsically, it's always shifting. To one side is allotted established traditions and values, the other - an attempt to surpass or go against that.
@AnnaKateShelt@Hedzer15@kal_fell I'm not sure it has even done that. This has been a thing for quite some time historically. People treated children as bargaining chips and/or as potential for acquiring some type of resource security or social status for thousands of years, based on if it's male or female.
@WadeTheSpade_@NebsGoodTakes@RevClownn Damn, the game move looks more plausible than the live action movie. In the trailer, it looks like the guy being held uses his spine and neck to bounce off the ground providing momentum. But in this game GIF, he is clearly slammed down hard, then the big guy flips and jumps.
