Happy Caturday you all. Show me your furbabies because I sure do need to see them. This Caturday is in honor of Jameson, the 2 year old St. Bernaed killed by the LAPD last week.
Every single day brings new vulnerable lives into our care, and today, it was these two tiny, abandoned kitties. They were huddled together in a narrow gap, completely defenseless.
We’ve brought them to safety, but our mission to provide them with urgent medical checkups,

@BhattiLaib9960 Not by my math! I may be old but I don’t think I’m over 100 myself. Is this a joke statement? Must be, no, it doesn’t sink in. What new math is this? 🤭

➡️ 91 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT
➡️ WINTER IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥
In shelter care, Winter has presented with distance increasing fear-based behaviors before progressing/improving through work with behavior staff. She has a history of a fear-based behavior incident that occurred in her previous home, which should be discussed with an adoption counsellor and taken into account when considering adopting Winter. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, she will likely require allowing her to lead interactions, and providing her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. A volunteer writes: Please see Winter with any questions, comments, and concerns regarding scheduling, policy, and programming. She's been here since March but that's not why she's been fast tracked to upper management. It's her skills! For consideration and approval, Winter utilizes a rigorous process that only she understands and because task delegation hasn't been a priority (please don't tell her I said that) we've been left trying to parse out the details. Winter knows who she is and we celebrate her confident stride, but just because she's a picture of self assuredness and leadership, doesn't mean shelter life has been exactly easy for her. We know Winter likes to be the one to make decisions but the Care Center doesn't always have a lot of opportunities for that. We don't know that much about her life before, but Winter isn't a fan of other cats and is hoping her next role will be supervising a family.❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻
NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP –
Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one.

Some of you will probably laugh at this, and many will not understand it.
My 17 year old cat is not doing well, and we will probably have to let her go.
Kidney failure, almost from 1 day to the next. 2 days ago she was still running around like a young cat.
I am a grown man, and this is breaking my heart. At the same time I have to find a way to explain to my children that this is part of life, even when it feels brutally unfair.
17 years.
She has been with me for almost half my life.
Through 4 different homes, different chapters, different versions of myself, from having no children to having 3 children.
She was always there. Every day she came to me, wanted to be close, climbed onto my arm like it was the most normal thing in the world.
She never scratched 1 of my children.
Never hurt anyone. A proper little lady.
Call me soft if you want. I do not care.
There are things in life you only understand once they are suddenly standing right in front of you.
The quiet loyalty of an animal is one of them.
No words, no demands, no drama. Just presence.
For 17 years she simply existed next to me, through stress, change, exhaustion, bad days, good days, moving boxes, new rooms, crying babies, growing children and all the silent moments.
And now I have to watch her become weak almost overnight.
I have to look at her and somehow decide what kindness means when every part of me wants more time.
Love makes you want to hold on. Responsibility forces you to let go before suffering becomes the price of your own selfishness.
So yes, I am devastated over a cat.
A 17 year old little soul who followed me through almost half my life, never asked for anything except closeness and food, and gave my family nothing but gentleness.
Laugh if you want. I will grieve her properly.
This picture is 17 years old, from the day I picked her up.
