Good afternoon! Another beautiful day although south and east it’s still a bit humid with dew points in the mid 60s. Farther inland, drier air is working in as dew points drop into the upper 50s.

The theme of the week ahead is summer-like as the heat and humidity builds…and while there are a few chances for showers or thunderstorms, no widespread rain events are expected.

A few scattered showers or thunderstorms are possible later today, favoring area areas to the north and east.

The pick of the week is tomorrow with lower humidity and seasonable temps. Tuesday looks great as well. Then we start dialing up the temperatures and humidity mid week and right into the weekend. At the moment the best chance for showers and thunderstorms are Wednesday night and Thursday. There may be some around Friday as well. Will lock this down as we get closer but no widespread rainfall and the activity favors areas to the north and west. By mid to late week, dew points will be pushing 70° which is very uncomfortable. Warm and muggy looks to be the pattern for the next couple of weeks at least.

Boaters…2-4s today across near shore waters with a small craft advisory in effect farther offshore south of the islands for 3 to 5 foot seas. Taking a high-level look at the seas this upcoming week…. Generally 2 to 4s across near shore waters. Later Tuesday and later Wednesday through Thursday look to be a bit choppier with more wind and those would be the days to watch for a potential small craft advisory near shore.

Here’s the detailed forecast for the week ahead:

Today: 🌤️🌦️⚡️🌬️ Mostly sunny with more clouds mixing in later. A few scattered later afternoon showers or thunderstorms possible - eastern areas favored. Breezy NW winds (west at the shore) and cooler. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s except cooler in the western hills. A touch of humidity still in the air but improving.

Tonight: More clouds for a while, then clearing before daybreak. Cooler and more comfortable. Lows in the low to mid 50s for most…upper 40s in the hills.

🏆 Monday: ☀️ Sunny and beautiful. Highs in the mid 70s to around 80° inland, cooler across coastal areas of SE CT, RI and E MA. The pick of the week.

Tuesday: ☀️🌤️ Sunny and warmer. Highs in the 80s. 70s at the SE beaches. Breezy SW winds. Pick of the week runner up!

Wednesday: ⛅️🌬️ Partly sunny and hot with increasing humidity. Highs in the mid 80s to mid 90s inland. Cooler at the beaches where temps stay in the 70s to around 80°. Breezy southerly winds.

A few scattered showers or storms possible Wednesday night.

Thursday: ⛅️🌤️🌦️⚡️A mix of clouds and sun. A
shower or storm possible. Highs inland 85-90°. Cooler at the SE beaches. Humid.

Friday: ⛅️🌤️ 💧⚡️ A mix of clouds and sun, hot and humid. Chance for a shower/storm. Highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Cooler across coastal areas of MA, RI and SE CT

Saturday: 🌤️ Mostly sunny, hot and moderately humid. Highs in the low to mid 90s inland. Much cooler at the beaches.

Sunday: 🌤️ Mostly sunny, hot and continued humid. Highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Upper 70s to low 80s SE beaches.

I was reading about Oystercatcher eyes (as one does) and leaned that its one of the most accurate ways to field gender. N99 & her mate pictured here. Females have much more flecking in their eyes. A good comparison here between N99& mate. Cool to learn something new #ctnaturefans

Just heard that this was from an elderly lady being injured due to a tree falling, I believe it fell onto their house. Damage is pretty bad in Sea Cliff, NY. Me and @VincentWX_1 observed 65mph+ gusts on a handheld anemometer. @NWSNewYorkNY #nywx #liwx
