🇺🇸 A polling firm with just 21 followers admitted its entire operation was FAKE, after fooling real campaigns.
Median Strategies came out of nowhere with a Wisconsin poll showing Francesca Hong crushing David Crowley by 23 points in the Democratic primary. Crowley ended up winning by about half a point.
The firm then shut down and confessed the whole thing was a "social experiment" testing how fake polls spread online, withdrawing every survey it ever released.
Before folding, it planted bogus numbers in 3 races, including the LA mayor's race, where Karen Bass cited its fake poll from her own account before deleting it.
A nobody account played the entire political world, effortlessly. Says a lot about politicians probably…

@MikeBales My ex complained about my snoring for years, but never recorded it.
Dad spent one night in a hotel with me during the separation and recorded my snoring. It took me about 5 seconds to realize it wasn’t just snoring, it was apnea. Now I am on CPAP and sleep soundly. Thanks, Dad!
@MrPeterLMorris@JohnCleese Yes, and I am saying that is just as much an incorrect usage. Using a term such as that when similar words such as ‘arachnophobia’ still accurately refer to an irrational fear implies a stronger connotation. It is deliberate misuse of the language.
@MrPeterLMorris@JohnCleese I’ll grant you that. I still believe the use of “-phobia” in the common modern lexicon neuters the reason for having the term to begin with, but perhaps I am a dinosaur in that regard.
@MrPeterLMorris@JohnCleese A “Phobia” is define as an irrational fear, meaning both presence of fear and that said fear is not of a rational nature. Popular culture has watered the term down to mean “aversion,” but this is strictly untrue, and I believe Mr. Cleese has an interest in using correct terms.
@MixxiMitstuki@AtelierAnoko Sadly, I doubt that entitled attitude will be corrected by learning anything from this encounter other than what a poor victim he/she is for being hit with copyright by the mean OP.
@Michael53183363@SecDuffy@DeptVetAffairs@USDOL@DeptofWar The program specifically assists veterans who drove specific large equipment for our nation to skip the CDL licensing, as they already have large vehicle experience. They still have to pass other requirements, but it speeds the process for them.
@Dermbrau@danielgodfrey Since you included this movie as an example, for accuracy: in Lili and Stitch, Nani is Lilo’s older sister, not her mother. They lost both parents before the movie.
@txsalth2o I know nothing of this particular candidate, but to your larger sentiment:
Have you ever heard a naturalized citizen speak who escaped from a Communist country and has embraced USA values? They’re more patriotic than many locally-born citizens.
It really isn’t so simple.
@Marna65504138@DefiantLs Honestly, if they /had/ laughed at him, he would have brought that up as it makes a better story. The best he could do in victimcrafting was that he felt uncomfortable because they existed near him. Pretty solid indicator that he’s the bigot here.
