It really has been a short walk from "you're overreacting" to public executions.

BREAKING: AMEN! The Catholic Church SLAMS Pete Hegseth’s big public execution announcement as a “barbaric promotion of a culture of death.”

The gloves have really come off now…

“It is with shock and great sorrow that I have learned of the Department of War’s decision to publicly livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan,” Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said in an official statement.

Yesterday, our alcoholic Fox News host turned “Secretary of War” proudly revealed that Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter who killed 13 people and injured 32 others in 2009, will be publicly executed. The announcment proved to be red meat for the so-called Christians in the MAGA movement, because apparently they’d rather live in Ancient Rome than in a civilized western democracy. They delight in carnage.

“Our God is the God of life. In no way can Hassan’s actions be condoned but this decision is a barbaric promotion of a culture of death and must be reconsidered,” Archbishop Coakley continued. “The word of God exhorts us: ‘do not repay anyone evil for evil' (Romans 12:17). The public execution even of one who has done grave harm will only further undermine the moral fabric of our nation and be a blight on the conscience of its people.”

“I pray for the intercession of Our Lady of Good Counsel that we as a nation may always choose life even in the most trying times and circumstances,” he added.

We couldn’t agree more. Hasan, who is confined to a wheelchair due to gunshot injuries incurred during his attack, deserves to spend the rest of his life in a prison cell. Executing him in a public has nothing to do with justice and everything to do with an administration that fetishizes violence, particularly “holy” violence against Muslims, above all else. Hegseth and Trump are pandering to their base and dragging our entire nation into the gutter in the process.

You can feel perfectly justified anger and even hatred for Hasan’s murderous actions and still not want to live in an Iron Age culture where people are killed in public by the government. Hegseth is taking a page right out of the ISIS playbook with this one and no doubt hopes that this display of brutality will prompt bloodthirsty young men to enlist in the military or ICE, which is exactly why the caliphate spread its execution videos online. These Christian Nationalists are exactly the same as the radical Islamists that they despise.

America is truly circling the drain now. Thankfully, the Catholic Church is using its full weight as a 2000-year-old institution to take a moral stand against this demonic regime. We must all lend our voices to their fight for a juster, kinder, more Christ-like society.

Please ❤️ and share to thank Archbishop Coakley for speaking out!

The fact that Hamas tried to release 100% of the Israeli civilian hostages immediately after their capture & Israel not just rejected their return but instead went & killed dozens of them is the most underreported story of the year.

[Lowkey @Lowkey0nline]

The Trump regime is going to execute a paraplegic Palestinian psychiatrist who has spent 17 years in prison by firing squad, and livestream it.

No other country in the world currently televises or livestreams executions.

The return of Public Spectacle Executions is widely known by historians as the first sign of things going really well

[Dylan Williams @dylanotes]

The last public execution in the US was in 1936. We’ve never broadcast one.

We didn’t even do this to the Nazis sentenced to death at Nuremberg.

It is widely seen as violating international human rights standards, except by a few outliers like Afghanistan, Iran and North Korea.

[Jamie Bonkiewicz @JamieBonkiewicz]

You know who else made executions a public spectacle? The fucking Taliban, Iran, and North Korea.

The question isn’t why France is rioting. It’s why aren’t we?

I can’t believe I have to say this, but Trump saying “Let them take out Los Angeles and San Diego, it's a small price to pay” should be grounds for 25th Amendment removal.

No president, regardless of political affiliation, should be fine with a US city getting nuked.

[john teufel @JohnTeufelNYC]

There is a wide open lane in the Dem presidential primary for someone whose entire campaign is "I will jail the entire Trump administration and everyone in the private sector who collaborated with them". This would poll incredibly and I don't know why no one is doing it.

@AJamesMcCarthy I’m in North Carolina and I saw a crazy green meteor heading west at about 10:30pm

[Bill Madden @maddenifico]

In a deranged speech tonight, Trump called on Iran to use a nuclear weapon against Los Angeles and San Diego, calling it "a very small price to pay."

The president of the United States encouraged a foreign nation to commit a heinous crime against humanity and incinerate millions of Americans.

The time for the 25th Amendment is long overdue for this murderous madman and traitor.

Massachusetts implemented a 4% tax on anyone earning over $1m in a single year. It resulted in free community college for any resident of Massachusetts.

Imagine what we could do as a country if we taxed billionaires?

[Warren Gunnels @GunnelsWarren]

If Bernie’s 5% a year billionaire wealth tax had been enacted in 2012, Elon Musk would be worth less than $365 billion instead of the $1 trillion he’s worth today. He’d still be the wealthiest man alive & every senior in America would have dental, vision & hearing under Medicare.

Fransa bunun adı protesto degil halk ayaklanmasıdır . 2ci Fransız ihtilali yaşanıyor sanki liselerden sonra 26 ünüversite eyleme destek verdiğini sosyal medya da açıkladı . Halkı kim susturmaya baskı yapmaya kalkarsa ihtilal kaçınılmazdır Fransa bunu yaşıyor

It's so much worse than anyone knows, especially the 9/11 stuff. Will be covering new findings on that front in my next investigation with @markgoodw_in , out later this month.
For now, all I can say is, you don't hate Lutnick enough.
