Targeting the 7% of social housing tenants with non-UK passports won't lay a single new brick.

Even in the dystopian fantasy where you "purge them all !" it wouldn't make a dent in the massive, systemic backlog caused by successive governments failing to build homes.

Legally, it's even a non-starter. You can't just tear up the legal rights, secure tenancies, & human rights protections of ILR & Settled Status holders who have probably been rooted in their communities for 20 years paying taxes & fees.

The courts would spend a decade ripping the policy to shreds. The councils will go bankrupt due to court fees.

But that's the point.
It's not meant to be viable.
In the laboratory of populist politics, Farage is Pavlov & Far-right voters are the subjects.
His policy dog whistles are designed to get all the ethnonationalists going & foaming at the mouth.

It's a party that doesn't plan on actually solving anything. They plan on riding a wave of "anti-immigrant fury" straight to No. 10.

As long as the base is cheering at the idea of punishing foreigners, they won't notice that nobody is actually building them a house.

After my wife's birthday celebrations today, a friend took all the balloons home because she teaches in Children's church and needs to keep the kids excited tomorrow.

I made a small prayer for her in my heart that at the end of all things, God considers here a good and faithful servant.

The way she faithfully took them down and did the arduous walk down the stairs, fitting them in her Uber safely and will do the same run tomorrow morning.
