China is developing a 1km-wide solar panel station in space, set to generate as much energy as all the oil ever extracted.

The array will orbit 36,000km above Earth, collecting uninterrupted solar power and beaming it down—potentially reshaping global energy markets.

Completion is expected by 2035, coinciding with China’s planned lunar research base.

With the U.S., ESA, and Japan also exploring solar satellites, the space-energy race is heating up.
