@bk_belton@338Canada Yeah 'cause the constant confidence votes to bring the government definitely gives the impression that he is just quaking in his boots at the thought of actually going to the polls.
@MationMiss Not really. If you remove politics from it and think In terms of clicks and engagement and revenue, Trump is a gift that keeps on giving for news media. He provides endless outrage for left-wing media to cover while also throwing red meat to his base with right-wing media.
@PrincessBravato 2020 had historically high turnout because it was a unique year. There was never a guarantee that all those new voters were going to show up again. Trump managed to get most of his voters from 2020 to support him again and Dems did not. It's not rocket science.
@stucam7771 Record turnout in early voting means nothing for general turnout. It just means more people are taking advantage of early voting. Plenty of countries have had elections this year where similarly more people voted early than ever but general voter turnout was nothing special.
@DrMichaelRHart Worst AG in history by far and easily Biden's biggest mistake as President. Never ever pick a judge for a job that requires being proactive.
@lorettafaucher@mehdirhasan@lawindsor I dunno. I see those people but also tons of Dems who are baselessly questioning the election results, exactly as they criticized MAGA of, simply because their minds can't wrap around the idea that the new voters they got in 2020 weren't guaranteed to show up again.
@johnpavlovitz Ya'll sound exactly like MAGA immediately questioning the election with no actual evidence.
As Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign manager once said, it's the economy, stupid. Trump lost in 2020 because the economy sucked and Dems lose now because the economy sucks. It's not complex.
@PamKeithFL They're not missing. They didn't show up.
Sorry, to burst your bubble but 2020 had historically high voter turnout and it was always silly to expect that to be the norm from now on.
@mmpadellan And people who told those people "you can't love your country only when you win" are now shitting all over the country and the people in it and baselessly questioning the election because they lost.
@BlackKnight10k This is worse actually. Germans never gave the Nazis a single-party majority in their legislature and rejected Hitler when he ran for President.
@BECommander11@MadeInTheUSANJ High early voting doesn't mean shit for final voter turnout. It just means more people take advantage of early voting.
This isn't a uniquely American phenomenon either. It's the case in many countries that had elections this year.
@MadeInTheUSANJ Oh, what do you know Democrats now undermining our democracy when it's a result they don't like. Shocker. Remember when "you can't love your country only when you win?"
@Strandjunker Undermining the results with no evidence just cause you don't like what happened is literally what ya'll were bitching at MAGA about for four years.
2020 had the highest voter turnout in a century. It was always unlikely to be that high again in 2024. This isn't complex.
@suddenlysobbing Same way 2016 happened and how it was so close in 2020.
Polling is garbage, analysts don't know shit, crowd sizes at rallies are irrelevant, debates don't matter, and America isn't going to elect a woman President period.
@Drewsyfer1 @mmsmall1@IanDMorrison 2020 was the highest voter turnout in a century. Anyone who genuinely thought that was gonna be the norm now is very naive about how engaged most voters are.
@mmsmall1@IanDMorrison High turnout in early voting is not a sign of high general election turnout. It just means more people are using early voting.
It's not just you Americans either. Canada had three recent elections with high early voting but overall turnout ended up being nothing special.
@IanDMorrison 2020 had historically high voter turnout because of the unique circumstances of that year and that was when Trump was President so people blamed him for the problems. But this time Dems had to be the ones to convince people to reelect them, not just vote against the other guy.
