The promised bus revolution could be stuck behind parked cars in Exeter.
Along with disabled , elderly & young people tying to get to the shops, college & hospital
There are better ways to solve this if Councillors choose to ask the community 👇
Many of the food delivery machines involved in close calls with pedestrians are not bicycles. They are illegal electric motorbikes. Not a cycling issue: a law enforcement issue. https://t.co/Damnvkpaj3
Sigh. We presume they do know how buses work but just don't care.
Great comfort to elderly person, waiting for delayed outbound 4 bus at Waitrose to get home to Heavitree after hospital, that bus was 'empty' for part of inbound journey

A recent report by @_wearepossible highlighting the concerning lack of diversity in cycling imagery, 'did not find any images depicting clearly visible disabilities among riders' and that 'disability was starkest in its absence'
The 2nd most populous city in Italy hosted a pilot project using e-cargo bikes instead of vans, and found the companies reduced delivery times 23% and reduced operating costs 40%.
Not bad, huh.
It’s not the scrapes, bumps and bruises from risky play that most parents are concerned about. It’s the very real danger of being hit and killed by a car. That’s what’s stopping children from having the freedom, adventure and free play they once had (and still need).
@frankum_ian We mentioned reliability, not BJT
Same for dad with 2 kids waiting in City Centre for No4 to get booked cheap train at St Davids to grannies house. They can wait.
And shocked to hear Heavitree now has a great bus service!
You have read your own messages from a few weeks ago?
@EXE1940339@ExeterUrbanist And of course there were public & online meetings too. Including one specifically for businesses. We know, we went to one.
Why not focus on the actual issues that need attention, rather than seek to create more mistrust & division with made up stuff?
1/
Opponent of better bus lanes has found issues that better bus lanes, better enforced will solve
We knew that-
DCC found 181 bus lane contraventions in just 4 days!
We look forward to @stuarthughes747 getting those ANPR powers 👍
How are these nothing to do with traffic?
@ExeterUrbanist And continues...
'The Heavitree Traders Association were notified by email of the consultation & asked to respond on the 19 Feb (day of the consultation opening), 18 March (two weeks to go reminder email), and 27 of March (2 days to go reminder email)'

@grocer_on_green Yes we weren't keen on the suggestion it is pedestrians to blame.
These are local people visiting the shops that people want to 'save'. Do we make their trips less to favour commuters in cars? That would seem odd.
@ExeterCycling Yes indeed. Hopefully DCC have that on their radar for upcoming bidding rounds 🤞. There are still some weak links in this important route to improve.
