Heartfelt thanks to @@FinMinIndia for introducing streamlined procedures through @cbic_india, to facilitate the import and export of gems and jewellery through personal carriage. The new guidelines, to be effective from 1st May 2025 notifies that Bills of Entry and Shipping Bills for personal carriage transactions will now be processed electronically, improving efficiency and transparency. This initiative is the outcome of the Council's continuous efforts and advocacy to Customs and other Government authorities.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman @cbic_india and the Ms. Christine Stevenson, the Comptroller of @NZ_Customs Service signed the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) between India and New Zealand on 17th March in New Delhi. Shri Surjit Bhujabal, Member (Customs) was also present during the signing ceremony.
The MRA will strengthen cooperation between two Customs administrations and reduce the security risks associated with the cross-border trade. A secured supply chain will eliminate many hurdles, enabling a seamless flow of goods and advancing ease of doing business.
In a major blow to cross-border smuggling networks, DRI, in a joint operation with Gujarat ATS, has recovered 87.92 kg of gold bars worth ₹80 crores from a residential flat at Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 17.03.2025. The search also uncovered 11 luxury watches, 19.66 kg of studded gold jewellery, and ₹1.37 crores cash. #DRIATWORK
