The outrage stems from conflating the alteration of a statutory form with requiring supplementary documentation. The ECI did not modify Form 6; it merely mandated an additional accompanying declaration (Annexure D) during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to ensure transparency. Thus, the CJI’s observation that the Court hasn't approved a 'modified' Form 6 perfectly aligns with the ECI's stance. Since the ECI made zero changes to the form itself, there was no modification to approve.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court's May 2026 judgment (Paras 152 & 161) explicitly upheld the ECI’s authority to demand this exact additional documentation to protect electoral purity.

This brings us to a fundamental question: who truly benefits if dead, duplicate, and bogus voters, alongside illegal infiltrators, remain on the electoral rolls? The vested interests attempting to halt the SIR process are using semantic technicalities as a smokescreen. The real battle is about protecting the integrity of India's elections.
