From pH of 6,7,8 are perfect for fish's optimal growth. When it is acidic, it's so easy to raise the pH to neutral, but when it's alkaline, especially above 10, it becomes difficult to reduce to neutral. I know there's a pH reducer, but the rate that is required to reduce alkaline water from above 10 is usually high, and it's liable to affect fish survival, especially fry(newly hatched fish)
