"India doesn't have enough chargers" is the laziest take I've heard.
We counted every public connector from 84 CPOs. 31,959 of them.

That's 18.4 cars per connector, on par with developed markets. 80%+ of owners charge at home anyway.

The infra is keeping up. For now.

[Priyans - ExpWithEVs @ExpWithEVs]

CPOs on Monday : We invest so much in charging infra. Press releases left right center.

CPOs on Friday : EV charging is not a profitable business.

Arre bhai, agar infra chalega nahi toh sunk cost hi hai na, profitability kaise aayegi.

In a 4km radius around the mathura exit of the Yamuna express way, there are 14 DCFC guns available. Today, only 2 were functional.
I visited every one of them out of curiosity and to do a quick top up to be stress free on the return to delhi.
It was pathetic.

The jio Pulse claimed no power.
One Tata charging club was completely off an unavailable on the app.

On the other side of the road, at the other Tata charging club setup, two towers had only one gun working each and the one gun each unable to detect vehicles. ( Four vehicles tried while I was there ) . One tower was switched off.

Every hassled soul that I met there, had the same thing to say…

They love their EVs, thoroughly enjoy driving them.. and despise having to suffer this betrayal of charging infrastructure on the road.

The EV push is of no use if infra ends up like this. Absolutely pathetic state of affairs.

2/14 guns!!!! I mean what the actual fuck.

Insurance in EVs should be simpler but the market leader doesn’t have enough intent to fix their battery problems for bulk of their customers.

With no in house tech, OEMs have to derisk as much as they can.

Insurance co can do better w/ smarter data collection & price the risk.

[Jayant Shilanjan Mundhra @jshilanjanm]

Insuring an EV in India costs 20% to 40% more than insuring the petrol version of the same car. A Nexon EV owner pays roughly ₹28,600 a year against about ₹18,700 for the petrol one.

I spent today's BharatNama on why, and it comes down to the battery. It's 40% to 60% of the car's value, a replacement pack on a Nexon EV runs ₹3-4 lakh, and after a crash a surveyor can't open a sealed pack to check the cells, so even a modest knock can end in a write-off.

If you own an EV or are about to buy one, check these in your policy before renewal:
1. Water ingress. Base policies often exclude it, and our cities flood every July.
2. Battery under zero-dep. Many add-ons cap battery depreciation cover at 50%, not 100%.
3. Your home charger. A wallbox can cost up to ₹50,000 and usually needs its own cover.

Plugging those gaps with add-ons can come to up to ₹12,000 a year on top of the higher base premium, which honestly surprised me.

Around 90% of India's public infra is now CCS2, nearly eliminating Type2 from the public spaces. The build out is not uniform. South and Central zones continue to grow, whereas West has flatlined. Among metro cities, only two added more than the rest.

India's EV charging network is growing at the slowest pace in two years, according to the latest data collected by ExpWithEVs. The highlight is that more of it is working than at any point since 2024.

I don’t even want to qualify you with a response.
But here I am because there was no need to quote me and do this tirade.

I am 15k km down on my EV, I haven’t touched my diesel in months, but none of you myopic people are going to convince me to take my child and my dog and my wife out into the highway anywhere in the northern fucking plains with a hope and dream that I won’t be stranded.
No.
When you are poor and young all this is fun. It was for me too.
But Nobody in their forties and used to comfortable travel is going to sit and “plan” before getting out of their houses whether to have chai in some roadside dump because there is an EV charger near it. The car will not decide my trip. And no there is ZERO reliability of a charger being present or being functional.

Just because some irresponsible dude took their EV to Ladakh doesn’t prove that the roads are ready for people like me to travel with our EVs to anything outside of the point of return around my city.

You guys are turning off people actively considering EVs with your, “why can’t you choose to live a difficult life “ rhetoric

[Priyans - ExpWithEVs @ExpWithEVs]

These problems highlighted here are genuine.

Cable theft, power loss / unavailability.

Most of it is a solved problem. It is a function of how seriously one wants to apply the solutions.

Statement: IFF condemns the internet shutdown in Connaught Place ahead of today's protest. We are tracing the suspension order.

New Delhi, 2 October 2026

The Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) condemns the suspension of mobile internet services in and around Connaught Place, New Delhi, this morning. At 9:40 am, Jio subscribers in the area received a message stating: "As per government instructions Internet services have been stopped in your area till further notice." The shutdown took effect before a protest called for 11 am at Jantar Mantar, seeking the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, had even begun.

Delhi Police has refused permission for the gathering, prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 are in force across New Delhi district, and entry and exit at eleven metro stations have been closed. On Gandhi Jayanti, the answer to a call for protest in the capital has been to switch off the internet for everyone who lives, works, trades and reports in its centre. We call for the immediate restoration of services.

At the time of release of this statement, we have not been able to locate any suspension order published by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Department of Telecommunications, the Government of NCT of Delhi or the Delhi Police. The public does not know who directed this shutdown, on what grounds, over what area, or until when. IFF is attempting to trace the order and will make it public as soon as we obtain a copy.

In Anuradha Bhasin v. Union of India, (2020) 3 SCC 637, the Supreme Court held that speech and trade over the internet are protected under Articles 19(1)(a) and 19(1)(g) of the Constitution, and that every suspension order must be published, reasoned, proportionate and limited in time. Under Section 20(2)(b) of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 and the Telecommunications (Temporary Suspension of Services) Rules, 2024, only the Union or State Home Secretary may issue such an order, for reasons recorded in writing. The order must be published and must specify the area, the services and a fixed duration and it may be passed only where no other reasonable means would serve. A shutdown announced to subscribers as lasting "till further notice", imposed before a single person had assembled, cannot be squared with these safeguards. It follows repeated suspensions around Jantar Mantar in July 2026. Switching off the network is becoming a routine response to protest in the national capital. IFF condemns the internet shutdown in parts of Central Delhi.

We call upon the Government of India and the Government of NCT of Delhi to:

1. Immediately restore mobile internet services in Connaught Place and all affected parts of Central Delhi.

2. Publish the suspension order forthwith, together with the reasons recorded in writing.

3. Disclose the issuing authority, the precise areas and services covered, and the period of operation.

4. Place the order before the Review Committee within five days, as the Rules require, and make its findings public.

Incentives are different. High time the concept of dealerships is 'deleted' from this industry.

EVs need showrooms and handful of service centres. Except Tata, of course.

[Selvakumar D @Gs_Wanderer]

Tesla’s maintenance philosophy is even more sensible: service is largely item/condition-based, rather than forcing a periodic workshop visit simply because the calendar says so.

I’m not comparing mass market EVs with Tesla. EVs simply don’t need ICE like frequent servicing.

I’ve done around 85,000 km in 12 months with my Nexon EV, and at a 7,500 km interval, that’s over 11 services a year. That’s almost a workshop visit every month. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Tracking Cell Manufacturing in India 🔋 — TCIN

India’s cell manufacturing ecosystem is slowly moving from announcements to actual production. Here’s the latest picture from what we’ve been able to track:

⚡️ OLA - 4680 NMC cells are in production, with LFP cylindrical cells expected soon. 46100 was mentioned earlier, while the scooter page also mentions 46160. Installed capacity is ~6 GWh. The planned expansion to ~20 GWh is expected to focus on prismatic cells. Actual production is still well below installed capacity.

⚡️ AGRATAS - Media reports have finally confirmed what we’ve been saying: Envision AESC technology is being used. Agratas is pursuing its own LFP technology. LFP cells are 175Ah, while NMC cells are 102Ah & 173Ah. Production is now expected in 2027. NMC production for JLR is expected first.

⚡️ GODI - Factory plans were announced earlier, but we couldn’t find any significant recent update.

⚡️ EXIDE - Plant construction is complete, with ~6 GWh capacity split equally between NMC & LFP. SVOLT technology, as reported earlier. Test batches are being sent to customers for qualification; Hyundai is not among these yet.

⚡️ LUCAS TVS - Factory plans were announced earlier, but there’s no significant recent update.

⚡️ AMARA RAJA - Gotion technology for LFP and Highstar technology for NMC. Phase 1 is planned at 4 GWh. Currently operating a sampling plant for customer qualification.

⚡️ RELIANCE - No meaningful update on Sodium-ion; the project appears to be on hold. For lithium-ion, contrary to some media reports, we found that equipment has been procured. Installation should begin soon. More to come.

⚡️ WAAREE - Announced a 3.5 GWh factory. Limited updates since then. We believe ALEEES could be the potential technology partner, but this is not confirmed.

⚡️ PANASONIC - IOCL - No significant update.

⚡️ IBC - JV with MGL for cell manufacturing in Karnataka. Factory plans have been announced, while IBC currently manufactures cells in Korea and assembles packs locally.

⚡️ NSURE - No significant new update. Samples and qualification work continue.

⚡️ JSW - Still looking for a technology partner.

⚡️ NASH ENERGY - Has a 600 MWh LFP cell manufacturing facility.

⚡️ GEGADYNE - Has a lab/pilot plant working on multi-ion chemistry rather than conventional lithium-ion. Supplying cells to Godrej for forklift applications. Exact capacity remains unclear.

⚡️ BOSON - Factory plans were announced earlier, but no significant update so far.

⚡️ VIKRAM SOLAR - Announced semi-solid Sodium-ion plans with technology partnership from Entity2. The project appears to be on hold for now.

⚡️ TRYDEN TECH - New addition to our list. Has its own R&D and has developed LFP & NMC cells. Pilot production is underway, and its technology is also being supplied externally for production.

🪫 Some projects have gone the other way:

❌ Log9 — Existing operations have ceased.

❌ Rajesh Exports — The project appears unlikely to materialise. The status remains unclear, including how it received PLI support.

❌ Carbolium Energy — We couldn’t find meaningful evidence of ongoing activity and it appears to have ceased operations.

This is TCIN - our ongoing attempt to track what’s actually happening behind India’s cell-manufacturing announcements🔋🇮🇳

More updates as projects move from announcements → equipment → pilot production → qualification → mass production.

PS - Do you have any more info? Or if you are related to any of these, we would love to talk more. Drop us a DM.

India mein koi 5 minutes number Google kar le to doodh ka doodh paani ka paani ho jaye.

RBI surplus to Govt : ₹2.87 Lakh Crores (US$30 Bn)
Total listed bank profits : ₹4.11 Lakh Crores (US$42 Bn)
NPCI - which runs UPI pre tax ‘surplus’ : ₹ 1,888 crores (US$200 Mn)

To nuksaan kis ka ho raha hai UPI se aur kaunsi subsidy de rahi hai Govt UPI pe jo chubh rahi hai?

Cost of running ATMs and cash logistics in India is ₹30,500 crores (US$ 3.0 Bn). If you want to optimise shut ATMs and promote UPI instead.

Any levy on UPI is just tax collection. UPI is the one scientific achievement of India everyone acknowledges par ab tax ki bali chadhegi.
