"They got the ball first!" - irrelevant

"VAR should have reviewed that" - they review everything

"The captain has the right to question the ref" - the captian has NO special privileges

Overall costs to the academies would be higher for the same amount of games.

@MakeCANSocerGr8 The league is no longer paying for conveners, therapists or fields. So they basically reduced their costs by 50%. I wonder where the other 15% is going...

@Mollicola It's a great hire, and I love that the CPL is looking for good people regardless of background. But they are still a small player in that their decisions only impact locally. I just hope those who (currently) have much more influence start thinking the same way.

But OASL is team-centered - they have the opportunity to pre-select weekends off (and thus would play on all remaining weekends). Don't blame vacation plan impacts on the league. That could have been set in April.

And don't think you are special playing outdoor those months, I've been doing it for decades. The problem is it can't be done on a large scale because the # and cost of facilties won't support it

@jonjohnson @GSarakinis @kasiakosek I'll assume you are joking and realize that cities will not extend the permits of clubs that agree to 'cut the grass'. Moving more games to early spring/late fall means more turf/indoor time ($100s/hr) vs summer grass time (much cheaper)

@GSarakinis @jonjohnson @kasiakosek Hockey players are not the only factor, especially in the GTA where my experience is that it is a non-factor in most high perf teams. Biggest hurdle is facilities. Municipal grass fields are typically open from mid May to end of Sep. Can't take summer off w/o huge cost impacts.

At the youth level, turnover is HUGE. I remember OYSL having issues with promoting teams that fell apart or switched clubs in the off season. No format is perfect. Scheduling flexibility is key

It's obvious no one has really paid attention to SAAC for the past 12 years. U13 format is exactly the same since day one - and it hasn't bothered Sigma, who have placed ~5 players in MLS.
