Trying out a more budget friendly gaming laptop to see if it's really offering value for money for a bit of gaming and video editing.
There are concessions and it's definitely interesting to see how the Intel Core i7-13620H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 perform.
I finally bit the bullet on a 4k monitor 🎉 It'll be extremely useful for both for my video editing and to test with the various Chromebooks I show on the MergeDroid channel and any other laptops over on the @ExtraDroid channel.
How's the UK feeling about no longer receiving a USB C charger with newly released laptop models requiring 100w or less?
I received my first review unit without one this weekend. Previous post I wrote about this over on the @MergeDroid BMAC page: https://t.co/FokgMaVqj4
@patientone_io@PNG_V_ Good news, I tested turning my backup on again today and it ran and reported success! Slightly odd message about having a backup from "another device" (it was the same one), but other than that it looks positive. Hope it's the same for you.
I'll file this under messages I didn't want to see when initiating a backup from the Microsoft Authenticator app.
Happening for the same account from multiple devices, so most likely either account specific or some wider issue on Microsoft's side.
@patientone_io@PNG_V_ Not that it helps, but for reference. Hopefully obvious but never delete app data as one person on the thread unfortunately has - https://t.co/1B33KvOFhp
@PNG_V_ My backups were definitely working more recently (but I now can't check the date).
My process when adding a new service was always:
1.) Delete backup
2.) Turn on backup, as this ensured an up-to-date backup rather than waiting for the automated one
#2 is throwing the error
Could anyone using the Microsoft Authenticator app with backups turned on confirm the most recent date for their backup?
I'm wondering if any backups have successfully run recently, or if it's only impacting anyone who turns off backup (+ then turns back on), or restoring.

Situations like this make me feel extremely relieved to have my 2FA / MFA Authenticator codes on a 2nd device.
I'm also getting setup w/the Google Auth + looking for services that support multiple Authenticator apps. So far big name services = Microsoft, Amazon, Instagram.

Here's what I've recommended - the Samsung Galaxy Book5. Meets the toughest requirements of having a number-pad (as it's 15.6 inches) AND being relatively light weight (at 1.55kg). The internals are likely overkill, but shouldn't flinch at anything they throw at it.
I'm after Windows laptop recommendations for a friend of the family. Requirements:
🪶Light weight
🔢Numberpad
I'm thinking of some newer Samsung options, esp as the super light weight Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus 15.6" (2024) was based off the older Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro.
