🚨 BREAKING: The European Parliament agreed on the following CHANGES to the EU AI Act:

1. Delaying the application of high-risk AI rules until standards are ready.

2. The fixed dates would be 2 December 2027 for high-risk AI systems in Annex III, 2 August 2028 for systems in Annex I.

3. Extending the deadline for compliance with rules on watermarking until 2 November 2026.

4. Adding a new ban on “nudifier” systems that use AI to create sexually explicit images that resemble a real person (without that person’s consent).

5. The ban above would not apply to AI systems with "effective safety measures preventing users from creating such images."

6. Allowing the processing of personal data to detect and correct biases in AI systems if service providers introduce safeguards to ensure this is done only when strictly necessary.

7. Extending SME support measures to small mid-cap enterprises (SMCs).

8. Making obligations under the AI Act less stringent for products already regulated under sectoral laws.

Amid the escalating Middle East crisis, reports suggest that people are abandoning their pets while fleeing parts of the UAE after Iranian drone strikes targeted areas in Dubai. Many people were seen leaving the city, and some have reportedly left their pets outside animal shelters or are seeking help from volunteers to take care of them.

According to a report by LBC (British Radio Station), veterinarians and animal rescuers in the UAE are receiving a surge of requests related to pets. The report claimed that vets are being flooded with requests from some owners asking for their pets to be ''euthanised'' after the recent drone attacks.

They spent years showing off their Dubai lifestyle. The moment it got dangerous, they abandoned the one thing that loved them unconditionally.

After Iranian missile strikes hit the UAE in early March 2026, thousands of expats rushed to leave Dubai. But as flights filled, a quieter crisis unfolded: hundreds of pets were abandoned. Dogs were found tied to lamp posts, left in empty apartments, or dumped near shelters already at capacity.

Rescue volunteers reported being overwhelmed. One said she received 27 messages in a single day from owners asking her to take their animals. Vets were flooded with requests to euthanize pets whose owners couldn't or wouldn't take them. Rescue groups like K9 Friends Dubai and War Paws called the situation heartbreaking, especially in one of the wealthiest cities on earth.

The crisis drew sharp criticism toward influencers and expats who built entire brands around luxury Dubai living but left their animals behind without a plan when things turned dangerous.

Through comprehensive CNVR (Collect, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Return) programs, strict animal welfare laws, high taxes on purchasing breeders' Dogs, and mandatory microchipping, they eliminated the stray population without euthanasia.

Finally, a city is putting horses before tradition.

In 2026, Brussels became the first capital city in Europe to ban horse-drawn carriages, choosing animal welfare over tourism and outdated customs.

For years, horses were made to pull heavy carriages through busy streets, traffic, and changing weather, often working long hours under visible strain.

City officials said modern alternatives exist and that entertainment should not come at the expense of an animal's health and safety.

This decision marks a powerful shift toward protecting working animals from preventable stress and exhaustion.

Because no animal should have to suffer for a sightseeing ride.
