We launched Netflix 25 years ago today.
We crashed our servers, ran out of mailing labels, and ended the day with 200 customers.
Today, we have more than 200 million.
Back then, I just wanted to start a company that sold something on the internet. We believed there “had to be a better way” to rent movies.
We ended up proving that a handful of people with a crazy idea and a bit of determination can change the world.
I’m proud of what Netflix has become and proud of what we accomplished. And I’m certainly proud of “Netflix and Chill.” (I never saw that coming).
But I’m proudest of the fact that I didn’t listen when everyone - and I mean everyone - told me “That Will Never Work”.

At one time this book helped me to get rid of the constant feeling that I was doing something wrong. It helped me to see the changes in responsibilities and tasks that occurred when I moved up the ladder.
Must read book for all the #Software engineers, who stepped up (or planning to step up) as Engineering Managers. The author @skamille did a fantastic job in taking readers through the mgmt journey and giving a 360 deg view. Good job Camillie
@czue@saaspegasus Features flags are crucial for any product development. What tools are you using?
I personally use @growth_book for my feature flag management as they allow me to handle different environments and split users based on parameters.
Balancing innovation and maintaining existing features is a delicate dance. We prioritize user feedback and constantly reassess to make sure we're making the right decisions for our product and clients 💡
For me, it’s the hardest challenge as a CTO.
