My take on the Crazy Taxi AI thing is that the actual use of AI for the process is so minimal that going into panic mode about it is unhelpful, but pressuring SEGA for statements like this is a very good thing. Let them know we do NOT want this in our games

I may consider getting the game knowing there aren't actual GenAI assets, I just hate that this is where the industry is headded.

I remember when devs took whole field trips to get inspiration and references for the art team... Whatever happened to that? Or just using Books?

The hope is that they see the response to this and maybe backtrack. Obviously, that won't change the fact they used GenAI in the first place, but it'll hopefully mean less projects to use it in the future

Update via Brian Shea on BSky, an expanded version of the disclaimer via SEGA PR that unfortunately confirms Crazy Taxi World Tour uses AI art for its background assets, not just coding assistance… shite.

This sounds like they're using it for things like repetitive code during development based on that first sentence, no different from Capcom or Square Enix or other studios

Not saying this is good or okay, just feel like we need to bring the same energy everywhere in these cases
