One of the highlights of the trip so far has been arriving at Minerva Reef – a crescent shaped safe-haven amidst miles of unrelenting ocean that otherworldly, like water rushing across the surface of Mars.

Our litter surveys map & measure escaped trash across coastlines and communities worldwide. Using the Debris Tracker app, our crew records litter across carefully measured transects. Litter and plastic fragments are also collected for FTIR polymer analysis onboard.

At a critical moment for ocean health our expedition aims to engage policymakers, strengthen evidence, and build momentum for action.

We were honoured to meet @UKinNZ representatives in Auckland including Consul General Sophie Warner-Fog, Paul Greenhalgh, & Natasha Beckman.

Our crew toured Plastic Recycling New Zealand’s plant in Auckland.
The facility gives new life to post-consumer waste, with capacity set to reach 3,900 tonnes annually by 2027.
