Glasses make kids' eyes weaker? A 2-year trial of 94 kids tested it. The kids given weaker-than-needed glasses got more nearsighted, faster. So skip the weaker pair and wear the prescription as written.

@SarahMi86866 Patching is hard on parents too. What often helps: patch during something they love (a show, Lego), let them decorate the patch or give their teddy one too, and use a sticker chart. If it stays a daily battle, ask the eye doctor whether atropine drops could be an option.
An optician can heat db4k React kids' frames to fine-tune the fit, and Europa Eyewear doesn't sell them direct. We compared them with ours on price, sizes and materials, and said when in-person is better.

Hand sanitizer dispensers squirt at toddler eye height. In France, kids' sanitizer eye injuries rose from 33 to 232 in a year. Lift them up and rinse with water if gel hits an eye.

About 90% of blocked tear ducts in babies clear on their own in the first year. Antibiotic drops don't open the duct; they only help with heavy discharge. A red, swollen lump beside the nose with fever can't wait.

In 263 schoolchildren, a distance eye chart caught only 25% of those with farsightedness of +2.00 or more. A farsighted child can focus hard enough to pass the chart, so passing it doesn't rule farsightedness out.

@TerraCalaway Kid logic is undefeated. If he ever wants the real answer: water can't fix it, because most prescriptions come down to the shape of the eye, so the light focuses a little in front of or behind the spot where it should land.
@msprettyreese_ Totally normal in week one, before they're a habit. A single home base at night (same dish, same spot) and a case that lives in his backpack fixes most of it. It gets easier once he notices how much clearer things look with them on.
Not one neon face paint color is FDA-approved for use near the eyes. A color can be legal on a child's cheek and still not allowed anywhere from the eyebrow down to the bony rim under the eye.

A toddler doesn't need to read a chart for an eye exam. Doctors use striped cards a child will look toward, photo screeners from 12 months, and drops that stop small eyes hiding farsightedness. Charts usually wait until about 4.

@Luckylibraa925 A strap will fix the sliding. For basketball it's worth one step further: the AAO puts basketball on its highest-risk list for eye injuries, mostly from fingers and elbows. Sports goggles with polycarbonate lenses made to ASTM F803 stay put and protect her eyes too.
There's no minimum age for contact lenses. Kids as young as 8 can wear them if they can handle them and keep up the cleaning without reminders. Even confident wearers still need a backup pair of glasses.

For a baby under 2, we'd point you to an in-person fitting, not our own site. Dilli Dalli's Infant Fit frames start at a 31 mm eye size; our smallest is 38 mm. We compared both brands using only what each one publishes.

A -3.00 stick-on lens placed 5 mm off centre adds 1.5 prism dioptres, over double what US prescription glasses may have. Stick-ons can't correct astigmatism either. Fine for adult reading shades, not a child's prescription.

US kids' ER injury rate from BB, pellet and airsoft guns fell by half from 1990 to 2016. The eye-injury rate rose 30.3%. Foam darts aren't harmless either: in one series, 9 of 11 kids hit in the eye had bleeding inside it.

About 60% of laser pointers the FDA tested were stronger than labeled, the AAO reports. The legal cap is 5 mW, and laser eye injuries often don't hurt at first, so damage can go unnoticed for days. Laser pointers aren't toys.
