@EvaLovesDesign Coat hangers hadn't been invented then. Bodices and skirts were separate items and they were folded up and stored in a trunk. And as a new dress cost most of the annual pay for a servant woman I would have a box full of 5th hand, much altered, near rags.

@RoyalDickie Rural schools definitely closed. Plus the local BBC radio station read out a list of closed schools: closed because of blocked roads, boiler failures, frozen pipes (where toilets were outside), and outbreaks of winter noroviris
@LoveNliberty@CrazyVibes_1 A local furniture shop uses a quantity of mismatched china tea cups as baubles on their (large) xmas tree. The lights shine through the cups and they look surprisingly stunning.
Visit the @CHEyork as a visiting researcher and lead on a project with CHE staff with financial support. The call for CHE Research Fellowships 2025/26 is now open, full details: https://t.co/Bnu4xCevNB
@SarahsGarden12@WebbyJamesHere Also country lanes with grass growing up the middle. There would have been wheel ruts where car tyres go now but single horse vehicles would have worn the middle down.
@DrJaninaRamirez Can you put his (dirty) litter tray or bedding outside, something with a strong familiar scent for him to follow should he be disoriented.
@aliciaandrz After 8 years I'm still waiting for my orange man to sit on my knee. But I've realised my upper legs just aren't long enough for him to be comfortable so it's not going to happen. I do get the chest crushing, wee-small hours Sit On Mummy and Dribble on her Face to compensate.
@RRussellDavies An old fashioned chutney? One that needs 3-4 months to mature so you have a tasty reminder of summer veg to eat with your New Year leftovers.
@gggirl924 Still have mine, or rather my late mothers. It only gets used for the xmas cake but it's the only thing big enough for a maturing cake wrapped in three tea towels
