Tina Kotek has kept it in place.
They removed the requirement that high school students prove they can read, write, or do basic math to graduate — because it supposedly harmed “students of color.”
This isn’t compassion.
It’s the soft bigotry of low expectations on steroids.
A diploma that doesn’t require competence is a participation trophy that cheats every kid who earns one the right way.
Standards exist for a reason. Oregon just pissed on them.
