Bonus Post – Beyond THE PRIMALS

THE PRIMALS were the reason I traveled from Japan to Download Festival 2026, but they were far from the only unforgettable part of the weekend.

Band-Maid was completely new to me before this trip. I listened to them on Spotify while preparing for Download Festival, but seeing them live was another experience entirely. The crowd was fully engaged, and they proved that a Japanese band performing in Japanese can absolutely command an international festival audience. I’ve continued listening to them after returning home and I’m already considering checking out their upcoming Budokan show.

BABYMETAL delivered one of the most spectacular performances of the weekend. During METALI!!, Tom Morello appeared on the giant screen. As an FFXIV fan who knows his contribution to the game, it was a special moment. The huge visuals, the powerful wind across the stage, and the confidence of the performers made it unforgettable.

Architects were another highlight. As an FFXIV player, I was excited to finally hear Sam Carter perform live at Download Festival after first hearing his voice in Endwalker: Footfalls. Their lighting design, visuals, and stage production were incredible and never left a moment feeling dull.

Tom Morello’s set was equally memorable. He performed alongside artists from different generations, encouraged the audience to sing along, played Rage Against the Machine material, supported younger musicians, and closed with a powerful rendition of John Lennon’s “Power to the People.”

THE PRIMALS brought me to Download Festival.

These artists gave me even more reasons to remember it.

As a camper, you arrived at Download Festival much earlier than I did, so I imagine you got to experience far more of the festival and knew the site much better than I ever could. I really respect the dedication and energy it takes to spend several days there!

I only attended the arena days, but thanks to people like you, I was able to enjoy the event even more and feel welcome as a visitor from Japan.

I hope you had an amazing Download Festival, and I hope we’ll meet again someday, either at another festival or somewhere in Eorzea.

Download Festival 2026 became much more than a music festival for me.

I came to the UK to see THE PRIMALS, but one of my greatest memories was meeting fellow Warriors of Light from around the world.

Despite my poor English and being sick during the trip, so many people helped me: staff, travelers, and especially the FFXIV community.

Thank you to everyone who took photos with me, shared stories, gifts, and kindness.

These moments reminded me that FFXIV is more than a game. It connects people across countries, languages, and cultures.

I will never forget this experience.

THE PRIMALS brought me here, but the Warriors of Light made it unforgettable.

I completely understand.

When I finally reached the FFXIV booth on Friday, the Y’shtola event-exclusive T-shirt had already sold out. I was lucky enough to get one later when a small number of L sizes were restocked, but many fans missed out.

I also wanted to buy some extra shirts as gifts for friends, but the pre-order THE PRIMALS shirt was already gone by the second day, and some sizes of the Moogle shirt had sold out by the third day.

The demand was clearly much higher than anyone expected.

That said, I saw the staff working hard throughout the weekend and doing their best to restock items whenever possible. I’m really grateful for all their efforts.

Hopefully these shirts will return in the future so more Warriors of Light can get them.

It wasn’t just an advertisement space. There were free trial stations, a guitar pick engraving corner, a crane game filled with FFXIV prizes, and a comfortable area where people could relax between shows.

I would love to see that happen too!

Many fans have been hoping for a UK tour for a long time. Unfortunately, things like the pandemic made it difficult, and so far THE PRIMALS’ appearances outside of Fan Festivals have been very rare.

I was fortunate enough to attend Eorzea Symphony in Germany back in 2018, which was held during Gamescom. Seeing FFXIV music performed in Europe was an unforgettable experience.

I think events such as EGX London or the London Games Festival could be wonderful opportunities in the future. Japan Expo in France would be another great fit as well.

After seeing the reaction at Download Festival, I feel even more hopeful that one day we might see a dedicated THE PRIMALS show in the UK.

I would definitely be there!

FINAL FANTASY XIV was everywhere at Download Festival 2026.

From a massive PLAY FREE billboard inside the festival grounds, to advertisements on the main stage screens, it was incredible to see FFXIV showcased at one of the world’s biggest rock and metal festivals.

As a longtime Warrior of Light, seeing the game I love represented in front of tens of thousands of festivalgoers was a genuinely special moment.
