Tag, we’re it!🎣
Inspired by @AquaticTracking we took a closer look at how the FACT Network contributes to tracking species at risk of extinction.
Within the FACT Network, researchers have tagged 140 different species and 43% of them are at risk of extinction. ⬇️
These include:
🟠 Vulnerable: 25%
🟣 Endangered: 11%
🔴 Critically Endangered: 7%
Tracking the movements of threatened species helps natural resource managers make informed conservation decisions. It also helps protect species that aren’t yet at risk so we can keep them that way
JUNE STUDY HALL SCHEDULE! 🗓️
Every Thursday, the OTN data team works with peers from across the globe to answer telemetry data questions and help problem-solve! This month, we'll have Edward Lavender take over on the 5th!
Don’t miss out!

📣 FACT Data Deadline is June 1st!
Reminder to FACT Members to get your data in this week!
Also our data form templates are available on our website as well as info on how to submit data if you need a refresher!

Do you have questions about aquatic telemetry, spatial ecology, statistics or programming? Attend OTN’s study hall on Thursday to problem-solve with the OTN data team and peers from across the globe! Learn more: https://t.co/YBGSV1Xm7V
‼️If you live in Charlotte County, FL please ask the Commissioners to reject a proposal on May 27 to rezone an exceptional portion of the Peace River & crucial nursery for endangered #sawfish for development. Info in letter from @SharkAdvocates, @sawfishconserv & @CoastalElasmos.
We’re celebrating World Turtle Day!
FACT uses acoustic and satellite tracking to uncover how sea turtles interact with fishing gear, identify critical habitats at risk from dredging, and explore solutions like artificial reefs to offset habitat loss from coastal development.
The full program is downloadable on the main page of the conference website for easy viewing. Attendees will get a hardcopy with note pages at the back when they arrive. The countdown is on - just over 2 weeks away!
OTN’s study hall promotes a culture of open science by providing a platform for transparent discussions and problem-solving. These informal sessions on Thursdays can be a valuable resource for anyone interested in aquatic telemetry. Learn more: https://t.co/YBGSV1Xm7V
