The Faculty Office has its origins in the Ecclesiastical Licences Act 1533. It is responsible for the regulation of the Notarial profession in England & Wales.

2/2 Sheila was instrumental in retaining the right of Masters of the Faculties to appoint and regulate notaries in England & Wales following the review of legal services regulation during her tenure which led to the passing of the Legal Services Act 2007.

The Master of the Faculties, the Registrar and the staff of the Faculty Office were saddened to learn of the death of Sheila Cameron CBE KC MA LLM DCL on 2nd July.

Sheila was Master of the Faculties from 2001 until 2009.  As well as being the first woman to hold that post, 1/2
