I think posts like this forget that almost all “bigger” streamers were small at some point, and it was as only through effort and time that they were able to get to where they currently are.

It is only through streaming to 5 viewers that you can learn how to stream to 10, and it is through streaming to 10 viewers that you learn how to stream to 20 etc etc etc

Streaming is a learned skill, and it’s a skill that most people don’t have a chance to improve on in your day to day life. Outside of streaming, in what other situation have you had to entertain or keep 5+ peoples attention for hours at a time?

So yes, by streaming to 5 people, you are already achieving something significant.

Also I do not think there is anything wrong with aspiring to make money via streaming, but you have to put in the time and effort into growing your channel channel before you can expect to make a cent; and that process can take years. During that time, you’ll need to have a love and passion for streaming to keep yourself going, because I can promise you the “potential of maybe making money some day” won’t be enough.

I’ve been streaming for 6 years, and for 4 of those years I was a face cam streamer with 10 viewers on average. During that time streaming was nothing but a hobby I did for fun, and put minimal effort into. I would make some money since I had some friends that would sub to me, but that money was more of a cool bonus to streaming rather than an expectation.

It was only when I started vtubing and grinding my ass off that I started making any significant money, and now after 2 years of doing it I’m luckily to say that it is the money from streaming that keeps me afloat. But getting to this point took years, and being able to live off of streaming was never my expectation.
