Creating artificial shortage in the retail and Corp market. LC’s pending since July for import of PC/Servers.

@rogueonomist What Start ups, I.T? These morons have restricted (almost on hold) import of all I.T equipment that falls under Tariff code 8471(Laptops, Desktops, Servers, Storage). In two months time you’ll have shortage of I.T equipment in the country.

(1/n) This is one of the least appreciated policies which Raza Baqir had to implement and which possibly cost him an extension. His predecessor expanded the size of SBP balance sheet (via lending to govt) by almost 6 trillion in just one year - an extremely inflationary policy.

@Sabbandkardo @Archer000000 SS had asked Lenovo, Dell, HP, ACER, ASUS to invest in a local assembly plant, he even tried to have this as RFP condition, but the volume simply isn’t there. we have a very small market. Even India has limited local assembly/Manufacturing.

@Sabbandkardo @Archer000000 Haier didn’t work out, they didn’t have any plan, and they were importing CKD, putting some screws and a sticker, that’s it. After loss had to shut it. That too with guaranteed 600,000u order under PM scheme.

@Sabbandkardo @rogueonomist 2 years of follow up and investigations resulted in literally no improvement. One customs director told us off the record that most appraisers/IO get sold out for few thousand rupees, so don’t expect much.
