FairFACTS Matters is excited to present an innovative proposal aimed at solving the myriad of challenges impacting Fairfax County and its students. Through a partnership with the School Board, we can make this vision, a reality.

The School Board has invited members of the community to present on 7/18/2024 and FairFACTS Matters was selected and will be sharing this long-term solution, which we're confident will result in equal and equitable outcomes for all of Fairfax County’s students. We look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you to the community for attending yesterday’s School Board meeting in such overwhelming numbers. Your attendance was a testament to the will of the people - we will be heard. You have seen first hand the challenge that awaits us.

Our work is not finished. We are now entering the next phase in which the School Board will commission a consultant study that will inform specific boundary recommendations that will likely be presented sometime in 2025. While we had hoped to convince the School Board to pause the 8130 revisions, this next phase was expected.

—Request to Business Leaders in the Community—

We require your immediate support to help pause revisions to policy 8130. Our primary concerns, from a business standpoint, are the following:
- Community Instability
- Talent Recruitment and Retention
- Business Investment in Community Development

How you can help

Consider writing a letter, in partnership with your company, encouraging the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, the FCPS School Board, and your elected representatives, to consider pausing the revisions to this policy.

As outlined in our flyer, this would cause tremendous community instability, a secondary effect of which could lead to talent retention concerns for businesses and corporations within the area.

Given that, as a society, we’ve only recently returned back to some sense of normalcy, in terms of a return to the office - that approach may be jeopardized by the FCPS School Board’s push to revise policy 8130, which could destabilize the county and individuals seeking to relocate here, as well as those who currently live here.

In speaking with residents of Fairfax County, it has been brought to our attention how destabilizing this really is. Unfortunately, when seeking to provide more community input, the FCPS School Board has rejected that notion and, in turn, has provided no meaningful way for these concerns to be communicated.

We urge everyone in the business community to help the FairFACTS Matters Foundation in this regard and to connect with us via email [email protected].

NOTICE: Fairfax County Public School Board is currently enabling sweeping school redistricting by amending Policy 8130. They are giving themselves more power & layering in a mandatory 5 year county-wide holistic reassessment, while simultaneously stripping out protections that require the School Board to consider the impact of this redistricting on STUDENTS & families/communities. This is not a joke. If you have kids, value stability, or own property, you should consider looking into this & joining this Facebook group that’s popped up in the past few weeks to look into this concerning development. It is our understanding that the policy revision will immediately mandate that the aforementioned county-wide assessment on redistricting be triggered. Voting on this policy could occur as soon as the July 18 SB meeting as it’s already cleared the Governance Committee.
