Impressive & powerful contribution from @matthew_balchin at tonight's Redbridge council meeting asking @redbridgelive to cancel planned closure of @FairlopSave our only outdoor inclusive water centre.

Another surprising, shocking, short sighted decision that should be reversed

Organised youth groups will no longer be limited in group size for outdoor activities in April. This means it’s much easier for schools and youth groups to engage in water activities.

Today we are permitted to speak at the full council meeting at 7:15pm. We had hoped to present this from the young users of the centre but you can hear them here instead.

Good news! If you are free 10th -11th April, email [email protected] and we'll send a volunteer form and more information for you to start helping the centre build back up!

Unfortunately at the moment we can't have under 18s, but keep an eye on later dates!

Watching the budget debate. It seems incumbent on anyone privileged to speak on the matter to understand which facility was actually being discussed. At least some have done their homework, if not all.

Brilliant to hear the news about schools getting a budget for a summer catch-up plan! 🙏

Hopefully this will help lots of students who have been struggling in lockdown and missing the outdoors.
