New on the blog: So-called sustainability programs are failing cocoa farmers and their families, with two new ones helping companies like @NestleUSA and @MDLZ greenwash (and labor-wash) their products. We're not fooled!

The companies also know that these children are not paid for their work.
No company should be able to profit from forced child labor. We urge @CBP to stop these imports at the US border by issuing a WRO. It is past time to stop companies from making a cheap buck off of children
Companies have known for decades that forced child labor is part of the industry. They know that children are trafficked into the country to work on cocoa farms, doing dangerous work like using machetes to cut cocoa pods from tall trees or carrying loads that weigh more than them

What's the scariest thing this #Halloween? Children as young as five years old are working in cocoa fields while the #chocolate industry rakes in $100 billion a year.
To end child labor and extractive business practices, we must strengthen community-led solutions.
"“Whether the changes will be substantial or minor will, for many, determine the future of the B Corp movement. The hope for many -- & the promise of B Corp leadership -- is that this process will significantly improve the standards.”"

It's #FairTradeMonth! While fair trade may sometimes be distilled down to a single label on a product, the movement is so much more: A vision for an economy based on solidarity.
