The mask has really dropped over these last 10 weeks. Human rights, international law, decolonization... all that is now just gone. The only law is might makes right.

Maybe it was always like that, but I think we'll miss the mask someday. We'll miss being able to pretend.

The saddest thing I see today is the cowardice. People who I know should know better are forced to refrain and retreat. People who I used to respect convincing themselves that their silence is serving some greater purpose.

I can sort of see how ChatGPT is steadily going to drive English teachers insane. You read something and see that familiar turn of phrase and weird AI vagueness. Then you're comparing it to what they wrote before or seeing if you can prompt ChatGPT into saying the same thing.

AI detectors are worthless. Just saying "This is ChatGPT therefore zero" isn't a great solution because an accusation like that needs to be able to stand up to Principal scrutiny. And as it gets to be more widespread, it takes more and more of your time to untangle this garbage.
