The Akhund Mullah Masjid, situated on the foothills of Hari Parbat or Koh‑i‑Maraan (Srinagar), was constructed by the Mughal prince Dara Shikoh in honour of his revered tutor, Mullah Akhund Shah. This historic mosque stands as an important symbol of Kashmir’s spiritual and architectural heritage. Owing to years of neglect, the structure is no longer functional for congregational prayers.

When there was no elected government in 2023–24, the Power Grid Corporation approved a Tesla MRI unit worth around ₹20 crore under its CSR initiative after a request from then DC of Anantnag, Syed Fakhrudin Hamid. When the MRI unit arrived at the hospital, health Minister Sakeena Itoo left the assembly session in Jammu and flew to Kashmir along with six other NC MLAs to inaugurate it, which is fine.

But the irony is that the inauguration nameplate doesn’t mention the Power Grid Corporation, the company which funded the project and made the facility possible.
