I actually pray for my patients
When the prognosis is bad, I pray their hearts to hope
When it's end stage and terminal, I pray our conversations lead to light
I have a group of Christian doctors where we deliberately meet to pray for patients especially bad cases

Few months ago, we had a terrible case the best of hands didn't know the way forward and the patient had given up, ready to pull the plug.
Following that rounds, I took some time in the call room to really pray for him so the Holy Spirit instructed I visit, so I stayed back after work in order to visit in the night

That night I came into the ward, had some good gist that consentingly led to conversations around faith, hope and the person of Jesus and we basically held a full blown service.

Right that night, it just appeared a new burst of hope and direction for everyone.

Earlier this week, I saw him from a distance walk out of the outpatient department with his two legs and my heart was merry!
I may not be able to go to church every time because of work but I understand that I am God's workmanship created for good works in the health sector and for me? I was called!

On one random day, I realized I was being underpaid at my former workplace.

Everyone else was earning 2–3x what I was paid.

And the funny part was that we were all asked to state our price. No one forced my number on me. I stated it myself.

When I found out what others were earning, I confronted my friend who also worked there, and he told me something that has sat with me for the longest:

“ Chioma, your problem is that you explain too much…”

And he was right.

Every time I stated my price, I would start rationalizing it.
Explaining the workload.
Explaining the value.
And explaining why it made sense.

And the moment you do that, you leave room for negotiation.
Same thing with apologies.

When you apologize for every little thing, you undermine your own credibility.

One of the biggest lessons I learned was to scrap “sorry” from my vocabulary in professional spaces.

Instead of
“It was my fault, I’m sorry,”
I learnt to say;
“That was a mistake on my part. I apologize.”

Instead of:

“Please can you…”
I started using:
“Could you kindly…”

And the difference between then and now is clear as day.

Why do some traders with real skill still fall off?
I’ve watched capable traders lose consistency not because they forgot how to trade…
but because trading quietly removed the structure their life used to give them.

No fixed hours.
No clear start or end.
Just screens, freedom, and decisions all day.
At first it feels like growth.
Then discipline starts to blur.
Sleep shifts. Routines fade.
And performance slowly follows.

The market didn’t beat them.
Structure left before it did.
There’s no neat answer here.
But the traders who last usually rebuild structure outside the charts before they try to enforce it inside.

Reading this, I couldn’t help but think about trading too.
In this space, we’re quick to judge results without knowing the full story behind them. We see someone blowing an account, failing a challenge, or still trading small size and assume they’re unserious or not working hard enough.

But just like school, life shows up differently for everyone in trading.
One trader is trading full-time, sleeping well, bills paid, no pressure. Another is trading after a 9–5, on bad internet, with rent due, family depending on them, and still trying to manage risk.

One trader can afford to take a loss and wait for the next setup. Another is trading with fear because that account means groceries or school fees.
Same charts. Same market. Very different realities.
Even the pace of progress isn’t equal. Some people need to move slowly, trade smaller, and prioritize survival over growth for a while, and that doesn’t mean they’re failing.

That’s why I’ve learned to give people grace in trading. Not everyone is chasing the same timeline, and not everyone is fighting the same battles.
If someone is celebrating passing one phase, surviving a drawdown, or just sticking to risk for a month, let them have it.

Progress looks different when life is involved. And sometimes, just staying in the game is already a win.
