#Bioethanol made from organic landfill waste reduces GHG emissions over gasoline, especially if your bioprocess uses Z. mobilis or S. cerevisiae! Read our LCA and LCC of bioethanol production using the @WilsonBio_Chem system https://t.co/m1PL0RNXpn
In honour of Professor Simon McQueen-Mason, we have set up along with CNAP the McQueen-Mason awards. These will fund #GenerationResearch summer studentships with the aim of widening participation in science. Thank you for any contribution in Simon's memory https://t.co/2YFYCCD4lk
I'm happy to announce we have this new article in Nature, discussing policies and challenges for a just transition. "Degrowth can work - here's how science can help": https://t.co/3kAsJMEFBk
Also wonderful to catchup with @FalseUnit who was on EU tour after landing dream job with @amyris in San Francisco after completing her @BBSRCWhiteRose @BBSRC with Simon McQueen Mason and myself - she even brought her own IB product #sweetener
A brilliant scientist, wonderful PhD supervisor and one of my favorite human beings. I will miss him dearly, and remember him fondly for the rest of my days.
We are devastated by the loss of our colleague & friend Simon McQueen Mason. A shining light has been extinguished from our lives. I know many of you knew Simon through LBNet & BBNet & other biotech projects & will be equally shocked by this tragedy.

Congratulations to @JohnArmst for passing his PhD viva and reaching the end of a long journey @BiologyatYork 🥂🍾👏🍻🏆! Heartfelt thanks 🙏 to the examiners Nick Robinson & @mjplevin . Well done, John, @insanity_one and I are proud. Onwards & Upwards! 🥂
Great to be a part of the HEMP-30 project to catalyse a step-change in the production and utilization of industrial #hemp as a #biorefinery crop in the UK.

Critics of degrowth simply don't read degrowth literature. This take on emissions keeps making the rounds, so here's a brief thread on what it gets wrong:
Excellent piece on the urgent need to consider #degrowth in climate mitigation scenarios. Achieving the goals of the #ParisAgreement is impossible so long as we continue to assume sustained economic growth must be pursued at all costs, no matter how wealthy a nation is already.
I'm excited to announce that we have a new article in Nature Energy today. This is an important piece, and we agonized over every sentence. It's behind a paywall, but you can get a free PDF here, and a short thread follows: https://t.co/hJfgvBPHtj https://t.co/kjZ15UOXvc
I enjoyed contributing to the insightful outcome of this waste valorisation paper, collaborating with outstanding researchers at York. Always a great pleasure working with Fanran and Jon, both leading lights in the creation of models that elucidate policy.

Combining various fermentation techniques with modern technology is enabling biotech companies to create proteins that rival those in animal products. And they are poised to seriously challenge the industrial meat, egg, and dairy industries.
