it’s time for another update on the development of #IOTAcore, the IOTA 2.0 node protocol.

Things continue to progress at a fast pace but the way of working has been changing slightly.

Feature completion is not the challenge anymore🏁

In my last development update on 𝕏 we discussed how the team planned to roll out the iota 2.0 nore protocoll.

TLDR: IOTA 2.0 with PoA consensus was super close to beeing feature complete. IOTA 2.0 with dPoS consenus had a few features left that haven't been integrated yet.

Well that has changed. We have reached (initial) feature completion with IOTA 2.0 running on PoA as well as running on dPoS.

If you check the latest dashboard of Milestone 1.1 (IOTAcore Node protocoll running with dPoS) on GitHub you can clearly see, that since this week there a no Issues left to be adressed.

So as announced the team would be ready to release a testnet running with dPoS as soon as every piece falls into place.

As @qaiza_ pointed out on my last update, it has been confirmed by the team that they will skip a release with PoA, since dPoS should be ready whenever they want to launch the testnet.

But as always, i want to remind you that we aren't there for a testnet yet. There is loads to do in order to get the protocoll in a releaseable state. We need to geth through the "hardening phase".

In the beginning i said the way of working has slightly changed and this is indeed the case. The team really moved on from pushing features towards testing every possible edge case and fixing upcoming bugs.

Most of the upcoming Issues, that are added to the release candidate milestones, have a debugging log and a short descrption of the error attached.

GitHub Issues don't describe features or complex mechanisms anymore but describe a bug. A good example is the Issue below recently raised by

Overall the GitHub activity gets even more dynamic. More Issues are raised and resolved in even shorter time than up to now.

Furthermore we see some of the tidious ToDo-Issues adressed. A clear sign the developers don't have any excuses to avoid adressing them😬

While i wont go through all open Issues, i would like to give you a feeling about the work left to do.

Overall there a roughly 24 Issues in the backlog, there is on Issue which needs to be discussed, and 7 Issues are currently beeing worked on.

Most of those Issues are either Bug fixes, smaller additions to the protocol or remaining ToDos and clean up work.

I am still be optimistic about an release end until end of the year. It will be heavily dependent on the progress of the other infrastrucutre (wallets, explorer, etc.) but i have a good feeling
