Femicide is more than numbers, it is a national emergency that demands urgent and collective action. Stronger systems, faster justice, and a shift in societal attitudes are critical to ending this cycle.

Khushi, an 18-year-old pregnant woman from South Delhi’s Tigri area, was allegedly drowned in the Chambal River near Agra by her father, 52-year-old Lakhpat Singh, after her pregnancy outside marriage reportedly brought family and social stigma.

On July 28, 2026, Singh and a relative allegedly took her to Agra under the guise of seeking medical treatment. Police say Khushi was forced into the river after refusing to jump herself.
