Episode 127: Freedom Isn't Free
In this episode, Nathan begins with a biblical look at prayer through the book of James and discuss why Christians are called to seek God's wisdom during difficult times. He then examines growing efforts to increase government oversight of homeschooling, including recently passed legislation in Connecticut that requires annual filings for families and background checks for parents to be allowed to homeschool. What do these developments mean for parental rights, religious liberty, and the future of family freedom in America? Join as he discusses the challenges ahead and why prayer, engagement, and vigilance matter now more than ever.

Episode 126: Floor Session Deadlines and Long-Term Politics
In Episode 126, the discussion focuses on legislative floor-session deadlines, the pressure lawmakers face during rapid voting periods, and how long-term political change often happens through gradual, incremental steps.
The episode opens with reflections from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, encouraging listeners to stay grounded, thoughtful, and faithful during difficult political and cultural seasons. Nathan discusses the purpose of government, the importance of wisdom in leadership, and the need to speak carefully and responsibly about those in authority.
The focus then shifts into the realities of floor-session week, where major legislative decisions are often made quickly as deadlines approach. A major theme throughout the episode is the idea of โ10 steps forward, 9 steps back,โ describing how large or controversial bills may be partially scaled back while still advancing smaller policy changes that create long-term impact over time.
The episode also touches on issues involving family policy, education, and homeschooling, while encouraging listeners to stay informed, engaged, prayerful, and invested in the long-term cultural future.

Episode 124: Connecticut and California Legislation--Why It Matters
Nathan Pierce opens by reading from Book of Psalms and talks about how people can feel overwhelmed by politics and culture, but says Christians should remember that God is still faithful even during difficult times.
The first major topic is a homeschooling bill in Connecticut. Nathan explains that the bill would increase restrictions on homeschool families and require background checks for parents who homeschool. He says the bill has already passed both houses of the Connecticut legislature and is now waiting for the governorโs decision. He encourages listeners to pray that the governor vetoes it because he sees it as harmful to parental rights and homeschool freedom.
The second half focuses on education legislation in California. Nathan discusses:
* a proposal to make JROTC programs more accessible to homeschool and private school students
* past efforts that allowed homeschool parents to provide driverโs education for their own kids
* changes that made it easier for homeschool students to get work permits without public school approval
* ongoing problems homeschool graduates face when applying to police or fire academies because California law often requires diplomas from accredited schools
He argues that many homeschool students are fully qualified but get blocked by outdated rules. He also briefly mentions concern over a California kindergarten bill that would limit some parentsโ ability to delay institutional schooling.
