Unbelievable 35 lap stint from Charles Leclerc on hard tyres, still lapping within a couple of tenths of Kimi and Max.
You won’t hear any praise from the Sky F1 commentators about this though…
🚨| F1’s 2026 cars could be faster on the Hungaroring straight than at Monza.
Monza’s long straights and few braking zones mean there are limited opportunities to harvest energy into the battery. With energy depleted, cars will stop accelerating earlier, limiting top speed.
🎙️| Stefano Domenicali on Sprints:
“Today, around 40% of the people who follow us come from the female audience, and the average age has fallen from around 57 to 34.”
“Young people increasingly appreciate a weekend in which there is already something that matters on Friday. Long-time fans, and I include myself among them, may also be interested in a practice session, but for the wider public, having qualifying already on Friday means having more meaningful content.”
🎙️| Stefano Domenicali on the length of races:
“It fits with the fact that young people tend to engage less and less with things that are long. I don’t think there would be a negative effect if we are talking about reducing the race by two or three laps. I’m not against it.”
🎙️| “Could you see Kimi, as an Italian, is he maybe one day in the future at Ferrari?”
“I think anything’s possible. I mean, the truth is there’s a lot of great drivers that could join Ferrari in the future. I think Ferrari’s Ferrari. I think the Italians, it’s the Pope and Ferrari, as far as I’m aware, and pasta and pizza and family, you know?”
“He’s obviously in the early stages of his life. Toto’s not going to let him go anytime soon.”
🎙️| Lewis Hamilton on his new F40:
“It’s the dream car of mine. So I’ve been looking for one for a while, and I wanted one with low mileage. I wanted one with a story.”
“This one that the owner had bought it, drove it from Maranello to his home, 69 kilometers, and then parked it and never started it again, and the passenger door had never been opened.”
“When they took the engine out, they found out the engine’s number 44. It’s got stamped on the engine number 44. I couldn’t believe it. And so it feels very much fate.”
