⚡️Breaking | Kenya | ⚖️ 🇰🇪 | Privatisation of SOEs - High Court
The Kenyan High Court has 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 the privatisation of state owned entities after Kenyan President Ruto said private individuals/investors can buy them. The citizens took President William Ruto to court.
The Court said: 'NO privatisation will take place without the participation of citizens.'
Kenyan publication: "ODM in its court papers argued that some public assets like the KICC, Kenya Pipeline Company, Kenya Literature Bureau, Kenya Seed Company and others can only be privatised with the consent of the people at a referendum. This is so because they form part of the sovereign wealth of Kenya with significant cultural and strategic importance to the public."
Ruto is going to be in big trouble if he had already "promised" people these SOEs.
The same court stopped Ruto from sending Kenyan security personnel to Haiti to fight Haitians that they labeled as: "gangsters/terrorists"
The biggest story of the week was the currency manipulation story.
I expected that to be the front page focus of Sunday Times, City Press, Mail & Guardian and Daily Maverick.
I expected leading chartered accountants to drive this story on every social media platform. Why is this story not being given the same focus as other corruption scandals.
If Paul Mashatile was accused of the things these banks have done, it would be a daily drum beat on every radio, tv and newspaper. There would be podcasts and documentaries on showmax.
I expected the same explainers, charts and spider web things I saw for the VBS scandal. It bothers me that the corruption of these banks has been made a smaller story than it is. I expected more than brief attention.
Are the media houses conflicted because they take lots of money from these banks for advertising and go to golf events hosted by these banks?
This reminds me of how the Glencore corruption story was downplayed in South African media while the company was paying admission of guilt fines in the USA and UK for bribing African leaders and manipulating African markets.
The Glencore corruption scandal was downplayed even though Glencore has large operations in South Africa and even though Glencore has and had very cozy relations with very powerful men in national politics.
The Glencore story was not given the same attention because it proved State Capture outside of what the Zondo commission wanted to talk about and outside of the Zuma narrative.
There was a time when the ANC with 1m members commanded 60% + of the votes.
TODAY, as we speak, the EFF has 1.3m audited members.
The EFF is well poised to WIN the elections outright in 2024.
The EFF is the ONLY growing party amongst the top 3 biggest parties in S Africa. FACT
Big up brother for exposing puppets of the neo-colonial global disorder! Russia fought against colonialism and apartheid whilst the West (US and Western Europe) reinforced the racist minority settler illegitimate and murderous regime. https://t.co/Sc0jkMbrda
Brilliant editorial by Adri Senekal, Editor of South Africa’s largest business daily Business Report.
She exposes the use of intelligence agencies playbook and the smear campaigns. We live in the age of neo apartheid McCarthyism. A must read. https://t.co/wmGoiSJyfr
The narrative is that President Zuma captured parts of the State via the Guptas. Meanwhile the whole time President Ramaphosa was capturing the entire State by playing the long game since Codesa. 🇿🇦
So are we saying that if Julius Malema sells Lemba exotic Cabbages to a dodgy international business man and they pay millions in foreign currency cash (undeclared) there is no issue?
Are we saying that even if they do not collect the Lemba exotic cabbages and if that money is not deposited into any bank account then it’s ok?
Or are we saying it depends on who is selling, who is buying and what their favorite song is?
