Behind every successful event at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center is a team working hard to keep the facility clean, safe, and ready at every stage.

Through detailed cleaning, continuous facility maintenance, and hands-on support with event setup and tear-down, Farm Show Laborers helps ensure each space is prepared for guests and quickly reset for what’s next — whether it’s a packed show weekend or the next event on the calendar.

What does a typical day look like for you?
“There isn’t really a typical day, as every day is different. Each show or event requires different things. That is part of what makes this job fun and exciting. I do everything from setting up for shows to trash control and cleaning.”

Favorite Part of the Job?
“My favorite part of the job is the people I get to meet during the shows. From vendors to exhibitors, you are always meeting new people.”

Why should someone consider working in public service for the Commonwealth?
“There is something for everyone within the Commonwealth, as there is much more diversity within the workplace, which opens up many more job opportunities.”

Meet Mike Johnson, one of our dedicated Equipment Operators at the Farm Show Complex. From event setup to tear-down, Mike plays an essential role in keeping the facility safe, efficient, and ready for whatever comes next — whether it’s a quiet day of prep or a packed show weekend.

What does a typical day look like for you?
“There is not a typical day around here, I could be pushing manure out of a barn, working an arena with a tractor, or sweeping and scrubbing any of the halls in the building.”

Favorite Part of the Job?
“My favorite part is that the work is rarely predictable. Equipment type and job demand change constantly.”

Why should someone consider working in public service for the Commonwealth?
“Job security and retirement are great benefits to working with the Commonwealth. However, working at the Farm Show Complex comes with Job Diversity and ample opportunity for overtime.”
