SASH releases earliest surviving footage of soccer played in US. Footage shows SF's Italia Virtus club v Italian cruiser Libia team on Nov 14, 1921. Footage is from 1st publicly viewed film directed by Frank Capra.

SASH has released what is presently the oldest surviving footage of soccer played in the US. Shot in San Francisco in 1921, the footage comes from a film directed by Frank Capra.

The 1921 footage features San Francisco's Italia Virtus club playing a team from the visiting Italian Navy cruiser RM Libia. Italia Virtus plays today as @SFItalianAC. They won the @opencup in 1976. @usopencup
