t's a national mission.
Together with key government stakeholders, we're removing barriers, accelerating trade, and driving Ethiopia's export growth forward.
Today, we witnessed the growing capabilities of Ethio Engineering Group (EEG) in producing metal products for railway infrastructure development.
Ethio–Djibouti Railway (EDR) is pleased to collaborate with EEG on local railway infrastructure development projects, including rolling stock machinery, equipment, and increased local content.
Under the leadership of H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed (@AbiyAhmedAli), Ethiopia is advancing toward the construction of high-speed trains and cross-national railway networks.
This collaboration agreement will extend over the next ten years, aiming to fully develop and localize railway infrastructure , rolling stock , and research and innovation in Ethiopia.
When we think of a logistics , we think of a strong trade economy that supports both exports and imports. For a country advancing toward the commercialization of its agricultural products, mineral resources, and manufacturing industries, efficient and reliable supply chains are essential.
Touring logistics facilities in Ethiopia and Djibouti with our Prime Minister @AbiyAhmedAli highlighted the urgency of strengthening logistics connectivity. Efficient and dependable logistics operations are critical for national prosperity and for unlocking the country’s growing export potential.
The Ethio- Djibouti Railway (EDR) is proud to announce a significant milestone in the development of the regional railway sector. We have successfully secured accredited professional training and competence certification for our railway professionals and beyond from Ethiopian Transport and Logistics ministry.
This achievement extends beyond our bilateral operations, establishing a center of excellence that will serve railway professionals across the entire Horn of Africa. A long-held aspiration for a skilled, standardized, and certified workforce in the region is now becoming a reality.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all partners and team members whose dedication and hard work made this crucial initiative possible.
