Change your shoes out every 500 miles. If your shoes have broken down, replace them before they become hazardous to your feet. Although you may not feel any pain in older shoes, the soles may be worn and provide little protection from objects or surfaces you walk on.
"You want something that has a rubber sole that actually provides some cushion and shock absorption. It needs to have some level of flexibility in the forefoot so that it allows the toes to bend at the level where they bend." said Dr. Osterman, DPM.
