वाराणसी में गंगा नदी से एक विशाल शिवलिंग मिलने के बाद लोगों में कौतूहल और श्रद्धा का माहौल है. गंगा के उस पार स्थित सूजाबाद क्षेत्र के शक्ति घाट के पास नाविकों के जाल में एक भारी-भरकम शिवलिंग फंस गया. ��सके बाद स्थानीय लोगों की मदद से शिवलिंग को बाहर निकाला गया और गंगा किनारे सुरक्षित स्थान पर रखा गया.

जानकारी के अनुसार, यह शिवलिंग शक्ति घाट से लगभग 200 मीटर की दूरी पर गंगा नदी में मिला. नाविक जब नदी में ��ाल डालकर अपना काम कर रहे थे, तभी उनके जाल में यह विशाल शिवलिंग फंस गया. काफी मशक्कत के बाद इसे बाहर निकाला गया. इसके बाद शिवलिंग को गंगा पार लाकर सूजाबाद स्थित गंगा मंदिर के बाहर अस्थायी रूप से रखा गया है.

स्थानीय लोगों के अनुसार, शिवलिंग का वजन करीब दो क्विंटल बताया जा रहा है. इसे उठाने के लिए 10 से 15 लोगों को एक साथ प्रयास करना पड़ा. शिवलिंग के आकार और पत्थर की बनावट को देखकर कई लोग इसे बेहद प्राच���न मान रहे हैं. कुछ लोगों का दावा है कि यह शिवलिंग लगभग 2500 साल पुराना हो सकता है. वहीं कई लोगों का मानना है कि इसका संबंध मौर्य काल से हो सकता है.
