Quality data begins with quality preparation.

SNBS concludes a month-long MICS7 Main Survey Data Collection Training, that involved over 150 data collectors from Federal Member States & Benadir Region. The training combined technical survey methodology with communication, ethics, confidentiality, teamwork & field readiness.

Trainees demonstrated competencies through mock household interviews, practical water-quality testing, role plays, demonstrations & pilot field pre-testing—putting classroom learning into practice & preparing them for realities of working with households & communities. The training also covered Code of Conduct & grievance redress mechanisms to ensure professional & responsible field operations.

With technical support from UNICEF & in collaboration with Federal Government institutions, the training prepares field teams to collect accurate, reliable & internationally comparable data in accordance with MICS7 standards. The participation of women who make up more than 95% of trainees strengthens survey’s ability to engage women & mothers respectfully on sensitive issues affecting children & families.

The training gives way to the most important phase; fieldwork. MICS7 will generate critical evidence on well-being & living conditions of children, women & households countrywide, supporting better policies, planning, resource allocation & decision-making. Behind every questionnaire is a household; behind every response is a person; & behind every statistics is a Somali life.
