as someone who likes to talk things out, i’m slowly learning that not every feeling requires a conversation. sometimes you just have to sit with it, let it pass and move on.
people aren’t perfect and neither am i. grace is necessary.
my red flag is that if you don’t talk to me, i won’t talk to you either. but not because i don’t want to talk to you but because i think if you don’t want to talk to me, i should give you space so i don’t bother you.
My cousin’s friend turned 33, and we kept teasing him about settling down and starting a family.
After some time, he showed up at a function with a very pretty lady. We all met her, talked with her, and everything seemed fine.
About four months later, he told us they had broken up. We were surprised and asked why, because she looked very calm and friendly.
He then explained that he visited her place and noticed she didn’t have plates, or cooking pots, just a few disposable plastic plates and spoons.
So he asked her, “Do you cook at all?”
She replied, “God forbid.”
He said he didn’t even have a problem with her not liking to cook; what made him end things was her response. When he asked if she cooked and she replied, 'God forbid,' that was the red flag that made him walk away."
Flip the script: If a woman visited a 33year old man's house and he had zero pots, pans, or plates, would she view it as a red flag?
